KandyPens Prism vs. Prism+ Review

KandyPens Prism vs. Prism+ Review

Vapes are getting smaller and stronger. In the past you had to make a choice between a larger vape with better vapor or a smaller vape with more stealth. Not so today. KandyPens Prism and the slightly larger KandyPens Prism+ give you the best of both worlds--an uber-compact body with premium atomizers, a borosilicate glass mouthpiece, and sub-ohm power.

Here we’ll break down the new offerings from KandyPens (known for their Galaxy and Gravity vape pens), including the differences between the two.

KandyPens has continued to impress with every release. Their designs grow sleeker, their atomizers more effective, and their build quality more durable and ready-for-anything. The most notable features of the KandyPens Prism and KandyPens Prism Plus are:

Top-Notch Vapor - Expect great flavor, aroma, and potency. The smoothness is incredible and the milkiness feels comfortable and satisfying.

Glass Vapor Path - Rare for a vape this small, but here you have it. A glass mouthpiece that cools vapor and preserves flavor. Also just looks and feels great.

More Durable Finish - KandyPens Prism has a stainless steel build that feels solid but doesn’t weigh heavy in your pocket. The smooth finish is elegant. Tough enough for vaping on-the-go, light enough for carrying around town.

Premium Atomizers - KandyPens Prism and Prism Plus come with 2 atomizers: a quartz double rod and a ceramic-lined, ceramic-plate coilless. Both are exceptional at vaporizing wax and offer their own perks. The Prism+ atomizers are bigger than the ones included with the smaller KandyPens Prism vaporizer. This is the main difference between the two besides the vaporizer.

If you look at life through a window, you see the obvious. If you look at it through a prism, you see things from a different perspective. Both the KandyPens Prism and the Prism Plus come with two different atomizers, each offering a new way to experience vaping.

First there is the coilless atomizer made out of 100% medical-grade ceramic. It features ceramic chamber walls and a ceramic plate at the bottom--nowhere for runny oils to, well, run--so you get the most out of each session without wasting concentrates.

Ceramic is inert, so it doesn’t rub off on the flavor and aroma of your vapor. The ceramic atomizer doesn’t create as big a rip as the dual quartz coil, but you still get decently sized vapor--very tasty--with the peace of mind knowing that ALL your wax will be vaporized against the heated walls and bottom plate of the atomizer.

Next there’s the dual quartz rod atomizer. It features medical-grade quartz rods wrapped in titanium coils. This atomizer extracts immense flavor from waxy oils. Expect big, milky rips of delicious vapor.

Both atomizers are leak-proof, so you avoid messes and wasted wax.

If you want a larger chamber, go with the KandyPens Prism. It’s still almost as compact as the tiny KandyPens Prism, but features larger atomizers and a stronger battery.

Both the Prism and Prism+ are super compact. But the Prism Plus is a little larger, giving it a bigger chamber and stronger battery.

Both vapes are 10.5 centimeters long. But the Prism Plus is a little wider. And we mean a little. They’re very similar in size. So no matter which you go with, you’re going to get a very compact vape.

That compact stature provides great stealthiness. The KandyPens Prism and KandyPens Prism Plus are pocket-friendly, and they’re small enough to hide in your hand as you vape. Despite that small stature, both vaporizers provide excellent vapor production.

Both Prism and Prism Plus feature stainless steel builds so they can be soaked in isopropyl with no issues. With other pens, the pain can actually peel off when soaked in ISO. Not so with the KandyPens Prism and Prism+.

Thanks to their atomizers and optimized heat settings, both the KandyPens Prism and Prism Plus have really tasty, milky vapor. The quartz is really great at displaying the full flavor range. The ceramic is super efficient so you don’t waste any wax. Both are great at vaporizing wax without burning it. No smokiness, no harshness. Just smooth rips.

The big difference between the Prism and Prism Plus is the size of the clouds. The Prism Plus has a larger chamber, and a stronger battery, so you get slightly denser, larger rips.

Unlike the majority of vapes this size, KandyPens Prism and its slightly larger counterpart come with a glass mouthpiece. The all-glass vapor path gives hits time to cool off, and does not rub off on the flavor and aroma as plastic or metal can.

KandyPens Prism Vaporizer comes with a 320mAh battery while the Prism Plus boasts 900mAh. This means the Prism+ lasts longer. For just a few more Hamiltons, you’ll get three times the battery power (on top of having a larger chamber). Both batteries have temp settings controlled by a simple click button. This makes it incredibly easy-to-use (more on ease-of-use below).

You can charge both units in less than two hours, and a full charge will get you through the day. The KandyPens Prism features both Micro-USB and the Lightning USB found on recent iPhones, while KandyPens Prism Plus uses just Micro.

Both vapes are incredibly easy to use. The control is a simple single button interface. Just click it 5 times to power on, 3 times to toggle temp settings. There are four voltages, and they are color-coded:

Yellow - 2.3v

Green - 3.0v

Red - 3.6v

Blue - 4.2v

Once you’ve chosen a temp, just remove the mouthpiece, load the atomizer, and screw the mouthpiece back on. Hold the power button to take a hit. Heating is rapid, making the KandyPens Prism and Prism Plus ideal for vaping on-the-go because you can take quick hits when you have a free moment.

The atomizers are fairly easy to clean, especially the coilless bucket. A q-tip dipped in isopropyl will do the trick. And the leak proof design ensures melted wax wouldn’t spill out of the chamber--a common problem with wax vaporizers.

KandyPens has impressed us again with this pair of smaller, stronger vapes. Both offer excellent vapor production thanks to their premium atomizers. And both are sleek, discreet, and portable as all get out. If you’re looking for a more compact, super stealthy, and slightly more affordable vape, go with the KandyPens Prism. If you want more power, longer sessions with fewer charges, and a larger heating chamber--and you don’t mind a slightly girthier build, choose the KandyPens Prism Plus.
